Make your holidays more relaxing when you order a Christmas meal for takeout. Puget Sound area grocery stores and restaurants offer prepared Christmas dinners to go featuring a variety of options, including meat, seafood, and vegetarian options, plus side dishes and desserts. Many are surprisingly affordable, especially when you consider time savings in addition to money spent on groceries.
Tip: For best selection and service, order as far in advance as possible. Most stores begin accepting holiday orders by the first of December for Christmas (restaurants, usually 1-2 weeks in advance). Some popular places sell out within a few days. 2024 Christmas Dinner “To Go”
Most stores have an order deadline of four days before Christmas Day. However, stores can also sell out of some items even when ordering in advance. So as soon as you know your plans, place an order as soon as possible. Most stores require 100% payment when you place your order. A variety of options are available from different businesses, such as ingredients for a DIY meal, pick up in advance to reheat, or pickup hot & ready on Christmas Eve or Day. BluWater Bistro (Seattle/Leschi) offers a take-home feast for 6 including roast turkey or prime rib, sides, and pie for $195 or $280. Order by December 22 for pickup Christmas Eve or Day. They also offer a dine-in 3-course prixe fixe for $59/person on Christmas Eve/Day.
Cutters Crabhouse (Seattle/Pike Place Market). Stunning views and a Northwest inspired seafood menu open for lunch and dinner. Holiday to-go pack serves 3-4 $110. Christmas dine-in prix fixe $65/person.
Daniel’s Broiler Steak & Seafood (Swartz Bros) offers dine-in service and a takeout menu of traditional steakhouse favorites. Closed Christmas Day. Open Christmas Eve. Reservations strongly suggested.
Metropolitan Market (metropolitan-market.com) (Gig Harbor, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Sammamish, Seattle/multiple locations, Tacoma/Proctor) began in 1971 with one store location in Seattle. Today, it’s an award-winning grocery store with locations throughout the Puget Sound region. They offer fully prepared turkey, ham, or prime rib dinners serving 8-10 $240-$300. Northwest Grocers (multiple locations) is the hub for locally owned, affordable neighborhood grocers including Red Apple, Thriftway, IGA, and other independent stores. Because stores are independently owned, the Holiday offerings will vary from location to location. With dozens of locations throughout the region, there’s likely to be one near you. PCC Community Markets – Greater Seattle’s Organic Grocery Store (pccmarkets.com) (Bellevue, Bothell, Burien, Edmonds, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond, Seattle/multiple locations) began as a food-buying club of 15 families in 1953. Today, it’s the largest consumer-owned natural food retail co-operative in the United States. They offer a variety of uncooked meat roasts, precooked turkey, salmon roasts, side dishes, and desserts. They have stores throughout the Puget Sound region, some were formerly under the Central Market banner. Their Complete Holiday Dinners with rib roast, turkey, or salmon with sides feed 3-5 people for $120-$380.
