If you’ve ever headed north to enjoy the scenic Chuckanut Drive in Skagit County (the turn off is a little north of Mount Vernon), you likely skirted between the towns of Bow and Edison. Now you have a reason to take the detour. While the population of Edison was 133 in the 2010 census, the people living there do have a great sense of fun that belies their size. Every February, they host the Chicken Parade, drawing a crowd of 1,000. That’s like the Seattle Super Bowl parade drawing over 5 million. So, if you’re feeling peckish (yes, we said that), give a cluck (and that, too) and head to the parade this year. Don’t be late, the parade lasts 12 minutes and goes for 2-blocks. Then everyone stands in line at the bakery. Makes for a great day trip. More info: Edison Chicken Parade: FREE (kidinsider.com) and Local Events | goskagit.com
