Short Run Comix & Arts Festival at Seattle Center features book artists from the Pacific Northwest and around the world who make indie commix and self-published, small press, and handmade books of all kinds. Short Run transcends the commercial “comic-con” model by enhancing the festival with interactive experiences, special guests, and collaborative and experiential programming; by highlighting the works of women, people of color, LGBTQ+ artists, and artists with disabilities; and by featuring books that exist outside of mainstream media, such as zines about Japanese psych rock, sex transitioning and identity, DIY and punk lifestyles; comics about illness and aging; handmade books that come with scavenged moss, are sewn with dental floss, or are composed of sheets of xeroxed paper stapled in the corner with a print run of 10. Free admission, donations gratefully accepted. More info: Short Run Comix Festival (shortrun.org)
