I really liked Sorticulture last year and I am so excited for it again this year. I know change can be difficult to adjust to and I know there were perks to having it at legion park in the past. However, the parking situation was MUCH better with it downtown and I actually discovered some neat local businesses I never noticed before. There was enough seating at the area where Ciscoe had his talk and giveaway and people could come and go without being disruptive. It was also good for COVID restrictions at the time and now. I do wish there had been some shade and maybe more greenery, but that is a city issue not a Sorticulture issue.
Also, I think it is really important that we keep accessibility in mind. I had to be in a walking boot last summer and if Sorticulture had been held at legion park I may not have been able to go. I definitely would not have lasted very long on the uneven ground. Others have far greater mobility issues so having access to plenty of handicapped parking, even walking surfaces with accessibility ramps, and seating areas is a matter of greater inclusivity. Many of us take our mobility for granted.
Either way, I am just so glad that Everett is able to host and accommodate such a wonderful event!

Very disappointed that Sorticulture Is not back at Legion Park. The whole atmosphere of the park helps to create the experience of Sorticulture. But once again we get to deal with the sterile atmosphere of concrete and buildings. Please move it back!

I also agree with the others , I hated it last year in Everett, it was in in enjoyable on hard pavements. In Region park I look forward to the wine garden and sitting there listening to Cisco talk . I found it very hard to find the sellers that I really liked, it was hard to park and had no atmosphere.

Be sure to send your comments to the organizers of Sorticulture. If you and everyone you know lets their opinion be heard, they would change it back. According to their website, the downtown location offers the following benefits:
Guests do not need to take a shuttle to get to the event and parking is ample and free on the weekends
Better accessibility for folks with limited mobility
Simple, drive-up package pickup for guests and easier load-in for vendors
Walking distance to local attractions, shopping, dining, museums and hotels
Much-needed economic support for small brick and mortar businesses and local restaurants

I agree with others comments that the downtown location is no where near as good as Legion Park. Last year’s Sorticulture was a huge disappointment due to the location. I have a hard time believing the public gave feedback and said the downtown location was better, as everyone I know who has been hates the new location.

What a HUGE disappointment that Sorticulture will not be back at Legion Park. That location is what made Sorticulture. On the asphalt downtown makes it like every other street fair. Too bad!

So glad that there will be a Sorticulture event this year but what a MAJOR disappointment that it isn’t being moved back to the park!! Sorticulture at Legion park IS Sorticulture. That’s what makes it so special and unique. Not on asphalt streets…
I would like to know when or how festival goers were asked for their opinion…
As someone who has attended this event for many years I find it unbelievable that the downtown street location is an improvement.
I have a feeling the real reason is it was more convenient and cost effective for the City of Everett. Period.
Very disappointed.

Thanks Tyler! We corrected our event calendar.
