Okanogan County Fair held the second weekend in September attracts a few thousand people to this north central Washington region, 50 miles south of the Canadian border. Gate fees are reasonable and include most of the events and attractions. Animals are the primary focus of this weekend with showings, sales, and educational opportunities. A variety of cultivated crops are featured from the common apples & carrots to unique crops like kohlrabi. Flowers, natural sciences, home economics, honey, cakes, and more are on display too. Head out to this fair to learn about all the crops and animals of Washington state. Tickets: Friday $20, other days $12. Children 5 and under are FREE. Discounts: 4-day pass $40. Sunday Special $5 (seniors, military, first responders).

There is no information about carnival rides on their website or ticket pages. The schedule lists all sorts of animal shows, demos, and contests, plus rodeo, horse races, live music, pageantry, a Sunday parade. Okanogan is remote, in the northern part of Washington State with a population less than 3,000. So, their fair is a traditional country fair focused on animals, handlers, and related events. Lots of old-fashioned fun.

Will there be rides? And do you need tickets to ride them?
