The Pacific Northwest is home to some 10,000 species of fungi. About 100 varieties of those bloom with edible mushrooms. Many others are deadly, and discerning one from another isn’t always easy. Fungi both far outnumber and long predate humans on earth. Edible mushrooms, it turns out, are the very tip of the proverbial fungi iceberg. Come grow your knowledge. Hosted in cooperation with Everett Parks and Recreation, the annual Wild Mushroom Show features a display of wild mushrooms collected by Snohomish County Mycological Society (SCMS) members, a free class on mushroom identification, mushroom kits, books, videos, and a raffle. Bring your own mushroom samples for identification. The event is free; donations accepted. More info: SCMS – Snohomish County Mycological Society (scmsfungi.org)
