mali (also known as Mary Porter and xwayama qalamut) is a Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribal Elder & Historian, as well as a descendant of Captain Moses of Marblemount, WA. mali’s goal is to bring together people from all walks of life to create a better future for our community. mali will share traditional dxʷləšucid stories and local history in this special so-bali-ali pətab.
- dxʷləšucid (aka Lushootseed) is a Salishan language of the Northwest Coast, spoken by more than a dozen small Puget Sound Salish tribes.
- so-bali-ali is the dxʷləšucid word for Whitehorse Mountain.
- pətab is the dxʷləšucid word for time.
