The worldwide soccer tournament known as the “World Cup” takes place every four years. Football teams from around the globe compete for the coveted trophy. Not surprisingly, it is estimated that 10 times as many people watch the World Cup as watch the NFL Super Bowl football championship in the United States.
Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), is the worldwide governing body for the international game of football, known as soccer in the United States. 2026 FIFA World Cup
The world’s premier international football competition will return in 2026 in an expanded edition. For the first time, the World Cup will include 48 teams playing 80 matches in 16 cities/stadiums in three countries (Canada, Mexico, USA):
- UNITED STATES: Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle.
- MEXICO: Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey
- CANADA: Toronto, Vancouver

FAQ for FIFA World Cup 26™
- Qualification for FIFA World Cup 26™ start in September 2023.
- Matches for FIFA World Cup 26™ will be played between the months of June and July.
- There will be 12 groups of four. Hopefuls will play eight games from group stage through to the final.
- The top two teams from each group and the eight best third-place teams from the groups will progress to the round of 32.
- Final will be played on 19 July, 2026. As of October 2023, no stadium was announced, but Dallas, New York, and Los Angeles have been mentioned as possibilities.
