Washington state has a rich agricultural heritage. A visit to a state or county fair is an excellent way to sample local foods and enjoy free and cheap entertainment. Fairs are a family-friendly activity. Fairs are also a way to see live local and headliner bands at a fraction of the typical price (or even free).
The Washington State Fair in Puyallup happens to be one of the top 10 largest fairs in the United States. Dozens of smaller county fairs feed into the state fair throughout the summer. In the list below, listed first are State & County Fairs in the Puget Sound region, followed by agricultural and 4-H fairs in every corner of the state.
Fairs make great day trips and the ones farther out are a budget-conscious choice for a weekend getaway or to an add-on to popular summer vacation spots around Washington State.
