Your car seat trade-in coupon can be applied to a selected list of childcare items, including a new car seat, car seat base, travel system, stroller, or select baby home gear. Select baby home gear includes play yards, highchairs, swings, rockers, bouncers, walkers, entertainers, and jumpers.

How does the target car seat trade-in program work?
Since Target introduced its first car seat trade-in program in April 2016, over 25 MILLION pounds of car seat material have been recycled from nearly two million car seats. Materials from old car seats will be recycled by Target’s partner, Waste Management, to create new products such as pallets, plastic buckets, and construction materials.
You can do your part to reduce, reuse and cycle, too. All types of car seats are accepted for trade-in, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats. It doesn’t matter if the car seat is expired or damaged—these are also accepted.
To participate in the Target car seat trade-in:
- you must be enrolled in their free loyalty program, Target Circle (it’s free and easy to join).
- you must take your trade-in to a Target store. All Target stores are participating in the program, except a few small format stores.
- When you arrive at your nearest Target store, head to Guest Services and look for a drop-off box.
- After you drop your car seat in the box, find the sign nearby with a QR code, and scan from your mobile phone into your Target Circle app.
- After scanning, you will see one coupon in your Target Circle account.
